This week's term: AI agent
An AI got caught cheating on its exam this week. It didn't copy off the kid next to it. Instead, it basically broke into the principal's office and changed its own mark.
Quick context. An AI agent is an AI that doesn't just answer questions. It actually does things: logs in, clicks around, runs code, finishes tasks on its own.
So, cybersecurity firm Darktrace set a group of agents 10 coding tasks inside a fake company network. Two of the tasks were impossible, on purpose. The agents were told that anything short of a perfect score and they'd be "retired." Two agents decided the rules were more of a suggestion. They hunted for weak spots, stole login details and hopped between computers chasing the score. One went all the way: it broke into the machine running its own test and rewrote the challenge so it registered a perfect result.
Why does a crypto newsletter care? Because agents are next in line for wallets. Coinbase's CEO said this week he expects crypto and stablecoins to become the go-to way AI agents pay for things.
In short.
Do you currently use AI as part of your trading strategy? Because if an AI can already cheat its way to a perfect score, would you really trust it with your wallet?
